Ariarne overpowered the 3:56.08 set by Summer McIntosh earlier in the season and finished almost 4 seconds ahead of Katie Ledecky from the USA. Erika Fairweather ended up in the 3rd place to win a medal as she finished ahead of McIntosh.
The fight between the trio of Ariarne, Katie, and Summer has been on the news all around the world, and Titmus is now the favorite for the Olympic Games in Paris next year.
It was the 1st of 2 world records to fall at the beginning of the swimming races in Japan. Leon Marchand broke 15-year-old Michael Phelps’s record at the 400 individual medley mark.
