The Gunners manager shared that Gabriel Jesus “has a spark in his eyes again” after netting in his team’s pre-season friendly victory against Manchester United in LA.
The North London team recovered from Rasmus Højlund’s 10th-minute goal to triumph 2-1 at SoFi Stadium thanks to Gabriel and substitute Gabriel Martinelli.
The Gunners were defeated in the pre-arranged penalty shootout afterwards as both Jakub Kiwior and Kai Havertz missed but Mikel’s team deserved their win as the Red Devils lost their way after 1st half injuries to Rasmus and new addition Leny Yoro.
The Brazilian forward netted just 4 times in 27 EPL matches in the past campaign as he lost his place in attack to Kai while injuries also limited him time on the pitch, struggling with knee and hamstring problems.
However, at the moment, Arteta thinks that Jesus looks really good during the preseason as the Brazilian has changed a lot of thinks after the end of the past campaign.
Mikel Arteta on Jesus: “He looks really good, he looks really sharp. He’s changed a lot of things over the summer & he’s come back in top condition again. When you have that baseline, other things can be built, but without that foundation, we don’t have a player.”
