The home side opened the scoring through Douglas Luiz in the 30th minutes. The Brazilian doubled Villa’s lead early on in the second after a penalty kick, which he calmly put past West Ham’s goalkeeper.
The Hammers showed signs of resistance as they reduced the deficit thanks to a fine finish from Jarrod Bowen.
Unfortunately for them it was short-lived, as Villa quickly restored the 2 goal cushion through in-form striker Ollie Watkins.
A last minute strike from substitute Leon Bailey rounded off the final scoreline of 4-1.
Unai Emeri’s men now sit 5th in the league with 19 points, but trail leaders Manchester City by only 2 points in what proves to be a highly competitive season at the front with the top 4 separated by only a single point.
