The Bayern Munich’s dressing room is reportedly split over the decision to sack former manager Julian Nagelsman.
The 35-year old was brutally axed last Friday, a decision that has sparkled many debates, since the Bavarians were still doing fairly decent, having eliminated PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League and trailing only by a point to league leaders Borussia Dortmund.
Reports say that not all of the Munich team is satisfied with the current situation. German newspaper Bild stated that seven players, including Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry wanted Nagelsman out, but other key figures like Leon Goretza and Joshua Kimmich were happy under his management.
Nagelsman infamously dismissed long-time Bayern goalkeeper coach Tony Topalovich and that might have contributed to Neuer’s pessimism towards him. The veteran keeper was infuriated when the news broke back then as he said Topalovich’s departure ‘ripped open his heart’.
Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and summer signing Sadio Mane were also in favour of Nagelsman’s sacking.
Along with Goretzka and Kimmich, Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Benjamin Pavard were among the Nagelsman’s supporters.
The one neutral is Thomas Muller, as reported by Bild. The 33-year old is said to be indifferent to the current situation and is fine with both Nagelsman and Tuchel.
It is still unknown what kind of sum the Bavarians have to pay as a compensation for Nagelsman.
