Chicago picked 1st for the last time in 2007, as they chose Patrick Kane back then. Blackhawks had the 3rd best chance to win the 1st overall pick this season at 12%.
Chicago’s franchise is in rebuild mode, and because of that, they traded Kane to the NY Rangers, and captain Jonathan Toews also left the team as a free agent.
Blackhawks are very optimistic after securing the first pick because that will allow them to select Bedard – a 17-year-old Canadian that specialists said the junior center is a generational hockey player.
“I’m a little bit without words to be genuine, but really, really happy,” Chicago GM Kyle Davidson shared.
