The Flyers will be retaining half of Hayes’ $7.14 million salary cap hit for the next three years.
Hayes will give the Blues experience as they will aim to the playoffs next season. The 31-year-old has capped nearly 700 NHL games and will look to restore St. Louis’ winning mentality.
He joined the Flyers back in 2019 on a seven-year-deal worth $50m and enjoyed an excellent debut campaign with them, netting 23 goals and reaching 54 points.
However, Hayes got into an altercations with head-coach John Tortorella, which resulted in him receiving limited playing time. He was also troubled by injury, which affected his form.
