The St. Louis Blues have made significant moves in their front office, announcing a contract extension for current general manager and president of hockey operations Doug Armstrong and a promotion for Alexander Steen.
Doug Armstrong, 59, has signed a three-year extension that will keep him with the Blues through the 2028-29 season.
Armstrong has been with the Blues for 14 seasons, during which he was named NHL General Manager of the Year in 2012, led the team to the playoffs 10 times, and guided them to their first Stanley Cup victory in 2019.

Alexander Steen, 40, has been promoted to the position of special assistant to the general manager. He will hold this role through the 2025-26 season before becoming the team’s general manager. Steen was a key player for the Blues during his career, contributing to their 2019 Stanley Cup win. He retired in 2020 after amassing 622 points (245 goals, 377 assists) in 1,018 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the St. Louis Blues. He was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs as the 24th overall pick in the 2002 NHL Draft.
