Eddie Howe’s men were a mere shadow of the team that demolished PSG 4-1 and unsurprisingly paid the price.
A goal in 1st half added time from Felix Nmecha was all Dortmund needed to walk away with the 3 points and return in contention in Group F, the so-called ‘Group of Death’.
The hosts had their chances in the 2nd half only for Dortmund’s keeper Gregor Kobel to deny them. The yellow team kept Nick Pope quite busy as well, as the 31-year-old had to intervene on handful of occasions to keep his team in the match.
In the end, the German team prevailed with a vital away win, which makes the group wide open. Newcastle will be hoping for a better fortune next time around in Germany.
