Borussia Dortmund took an important step towards the knockout stage of the Champions League, beating Newcastle 2-0 at home in their Round 4 group stage clash.
The German side was the better team throughout the whole 90 minutes and can deservedly pat themselves on the back for the three points that at least for now propelled them to the very top of the standings with 7 points. PSG is behind with 6, but with a game in hand in front of Newcastle with 4 and AC Milan with 2, but also with one less game.
Dortmund was trying hard to find the goal since the start of the clash, but scored it 26 minute when Sabitzer put a great pass for Fullkrug and he didn’t have another option but to put it into the net from close range.

Newcastle started the second half better, but missed couple of chances, which proved costly in the 79 minute when Brandt was set free on a counter attack and left Pope no chance to save his low shot into the bottom left corner.
