The Edmonton Oilers edged out the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in a hard-fought game on Friday night.
Evan Bouchard was without a doubt the star of the match as he notched 2 goals and an assist to help his team secure a sixth consecutive win.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each had a goal and an assist. But it was a power play goal from Bouchard that proved to be critical for the Oilers, who have won nine out of their last 12 games.
“There’s plenty of guys that can place a shot in the right position but not many can hammer it like that,” Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said. “There’s very few that can do both.”
Matt Boldy led the way for the Wild with a goal and an assist, while Joel Eriksson Ek and Connor Dewar also scored. Minnesota recorded its second straight loss after 4 consecutive victories.
“I didn’t have any problem with the effort,” Wild coach John Hynes said. “I thought we were up against it coming into the game, and that’s what the schedule is. … But I really liked the compete and the battle that we had.”
