Selecao abandoned their traditional yellow-blue kit as an act of support

Brazil wore all-black kit in the first half of their 4-1 win against Guinea in a friendly match on Saturday night.

It is a direct consequence of the events, which occurred at the end of season in La Liga, when Selecao’s star player Vinicius Jr. was constantly subjected to racial abuse.

The incident in question is when Real Madrid faced Valencia at the Mestalla in May, which saw at least one member of the home crowd take a racial dig at the 22-year-old. Real Madrid reported the case to the Spanish prosecutor’s office as a hate crime and it is currently being reviewed by the court.

Earlier this month, 7 men were punished for racist acts against Vinicius Jr., which took place earlier in the season.

Brazil switched back to their traditional yellow and blue stripes for the second half as they sailed past Guinea for a comfortable victory.
