The Cleveland Browns today agreed to a restructured contract with WR Amari Cooper that features a 5 million dollar raise, avoiding a continued deal dispute as veterans join for training camp.

The Browns are also guaranteeing the wide receiver the 20 million dollars currently left on the final season of his deal. Amari originally inked a 5-year, 100 million dollar contract 4 years ago while with the Cowboys. Cleveland is giving Amari half of the 20 million dollar guarantee in the form of an inking bonus. The wide receiver will still be an unrestricted free agent after the finish of the upcoming campaign.
Amari did not attend the mandatory minicamp in the past month, an absence manager Kevin Stefanski claimed was not excused. While the head coach did not reveal that Cooper missed it because of problems with his deal, he shared that there has been a ‘talk’ between the Browns and Amari’s agent. The wide receiver was also absent at any of the organization’s OTA practices open to reporters.
