The Cleveland Browns and DE Alex Wright reached agreement today on a 3-season, 33 million dollar extension that features 21 million dollar guaranteed.
Alex, who is 25 years old, is 3rd in the organization with 3 sacks in 9 matches in the current campaign. The defensive end has also forced a fumble and had 9 tackles for loss.
Alex has 9 sacks since picked by Cleveland in the 3rd round by Cleveland in the 3rd round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of UAB.
He had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the end of the campaign.
Browns (2-8) are 4th in the AFC North in last place behind the Bengals, Ravens, and the leader, the Steelers. Cleveland has no realistic chances of reaching the postseason.
The defensive end has been sidelined with a quad problem since Week 10. Before his injury, Wright received praise from his DE Jim Schwartz as a starter opposite Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
“Alex is competing with great effort, and he is crucial in pass rush,” shared Jim almost a month ago.
