Bruce Brown is set to leave the NBA champions Denver Nuggets after allegedly declining his $6.8 million player option, reports say.
The 26-year-old will be become a free agent once the free agency period opens up next week.
Brown was an integral part of Denver’s success, playing a key role as a substitute. He came off good in the playoffs averaging 12 points and 4 rebounds per game as the Nuggets achieved a memorable feat, clinching their first NBA title.
Nuggets coach Michael Malone said that the team is determined to keep Brown, but they are unable to pay him more than $7.8 million for next season.
The guard was a second-round pick in 2018 by Detroit out of University of Miami. Before joining the Nuggets last summer, he played two years with the Pistons and two more with Brooklyn.
