That happened after Patrice Bergeron retired during the summer.
Brad (35) is beginning his 15th campaign with Boston, joining the franchise as 3rd round selection in the 2006 NHL Draft.
The player has scored 372 goals and earned 862 points in 947 matches in his NHL career. The winger netted 21 goals and had 67 points in 73 matches in the past campaign.
He triumphed with the Stanley Cup in 2011 and will become the 3rd Bruins captain in 4 years after Bergeron replaced Zdeno Chara in 2020.
The new captain enters this campaign in a position to continue to climb the organization’s record book. With 82 matches played, he would surpass Chara and Wayne Cashman to sit 6th all-time in clashes played for Boston. Marchand currently sits 6th in goals and 9th in assists in the team’s history.
