Bruno Fernandes expressed his frustration at match official Michael Oliver for not awarding his team with ‘a clear penalty’.
The situation in question occurred in the first half with the scoreline still at 0-0, when Alejandro Garnacho burst forward, cutting in from the left and sending a shot towards goal before it struck the outstretched arm of defender Cristian Romero.
VAR reviewed the situation, but deemed it clear and no foul was given.
Reflecting on the matter, Fernandes made an inquiry for an apology and drew comparisons with the controversial situation at the end of United’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton, where the away team were dismissed a blatant penalty deep into stoppage time.
“Last week they made a big thing on United not having a penalty against them [Wolves],” said Fernandes.
“I want to see what’s going to happen this week if it’s going to happen the same show they did last week.”
“I want to see if Jon Moss also comes to apologise to our dressing room like they said he did to the manager of Wolves,”
