Bryce Harper has been left out of the squad for Friday’s game against Minnesota, a day after he was put on the injured list with back spasm.
Harper dismissed claims that it is something serious and said it is not related to the back pain that kept him out of play in 2021.
“I felt better today. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow,” Harper said.
Harper said he felt the spasms early in first inning against Washington but wanted to continue to play.
Alec Bohm stepped in as Harper’s replacement at first base.
Harper is hitting .293 with seven homers and 38 RBIs. Bohm has received the majority of Philadelphia’s starts at the position in place of Rhys Hoskins, who was absent in spring training with a left anterior cruciate ligament tear.
