Mike Budenholzer shared a little teary-eyed talking about his past in Arizona, describing an idyllic childhood in the small town of Holbrook, about 3 hours from Phoenix.
Mike’s tears disappeared quickly when he began talking about the future.
“I still can’t believe it, like mind-blowing, to know that I’m going to be the manager of the Phoenix Suns,” the head coach shared with the media today during his presentation.
He replaces Frank Vogel, who was dismissed over a week ago after 1 disastrous campaign. The 2-time NBA Coach of the Year’s main task will be to achieve more with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal as the organization dreams about a title with the trio.
The Phoenix superstar disappointed in the past campaign under Vogel, finishing with a 49-33 record before getting swept by the Timberwolves in the 1st round of the postseason.
Budenholzer added that he can’t wait to start working with these great players, and he understands that everyone expects big things with such a roster in Phoenix.
"You got to coach them hard. You got to demand of them. You got to have high expectations for them. And usually they thrive."
