The Buffalo Bills will bring back Damar Hamlin on a 1-season deal after his 2025 campaign was cut short by injury, the organization revealed today.
The safety, who is 28 years old, appeared in only 5 matches in the past season after he sustained a pectoral problem in training that required a procedure and ultimately finished his campaign in October. Hamlin returns to Buffalo’s safety room, which has added C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone during free agency.
A 6th-round selection 5 years ago, Damar started his time in the NFL as a Buffalo reserve and special teams footballer. Hamlin had chances to start in 2022 because of injuries, including a January 2nd, 2023, MNF match vs. the Bengals during which he experienced cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field.
After recovering, Damar was medically cleared to return to the NFL and made the choice to continue his career, serving as a reserve in 2023. In the next year, he secured the starting safety position, beginning from the 1st minute on the field, 14 matches, and recording the 1st 2 picks in his career.
