Flames will put his number next to Lanny MacDonald (9), Jarome Iginla (12) and Mike Vernon (30)
The Calgary Flames will retire goalie Mika Kiprusoff’s No. 34 jersey on March 2 before the team’s NHL game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Associated Press reports.
Kiprusoff ended his career as the club’s record holder for wins (305), clean sheets (41) and games (576). In addition to his number, Lanny MacDonald (9), Jarome Iginla (12) and Mike Vernon (30) have also had their numbers retired in Calgary.
“I’m happy that my accomplishments in Calgary will be recognized in this way. The most meaningful thing of all will happen when my number hangs next to those of the legends and especially my close friend Mike Vernon,” said Kiprusoff.
