The situation happened during Columbus’ 3-1 win against Calgary on Friday when Rasmus did a high hit on Patrik in the match’s final seconds.
Patrick needed help to leave the ice and didn’t play in his organization’s 5-4 OT victory against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Blue Jackets revealed that the forward is day-to-day with an upper-body problem.
Andersson’s appeal will be presented to the league’s commissioner, Gary Bettman. He is not eligible for an independent arbitrator because the suspension is under 6 matches, and the hearing will not be in person.
If his suspension is confirmed, the Flames defender will lose almost $100,000 in pay, which will be allocated to the PEAF.
