Canada emerged victorious 5-2 against Germany in a hard-fought match, which was ultimately decided in the last period at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on Sunday night.
Germany started the game stronger as they were the more persistent team and their efforts were rewarded with an opening goal from Moritz Seider after an excellent solo display.

Soon after it was the Canadians’ turn to strike as Peyton Krebs slotted the puck into the back of the net for 1-1.
In the second period Germany once again found themselves in front thanks to Daniel Fischbuch, who was at the right place in the right time.
Canada once again found the perfect response and with 3 minutes to spare in the 2nd period struck a power-play goal from Lawson Crouse.
When it came down to the last period it was all Canada as they organized a real onslaught on front of Germany’s goal and put 3 goals past them for a World Championship glory.
Canada have now one 7 out of their last 13 gold-medal games and have clinched a medal in each of the past 4 years.
Germany, on the other hand, will be disappointed, but they have clinched a silver medal for the first time in 70 years (the last one coming in 1953).
