Carlos Sainz has spoken about his future in Formula 1 and shared that wants to sign a new contract with Ferrari, as his main goal is to one day become world champion with the team.
The Spaniard’s current contract runs until the end of 2024.
“I’m not going to lie. I don’t like going into the last year of my contract not knowing where I’m going to compete after that. I went through this process with both Red Bull and Renault. I know full well that this is not ideal for any athlete or pilot. That’s just not right. That’s why I set this winter as a starting point to try to figure out my future,” Sainz said ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.
“My priority and main goal is to one day win the title with Ferrari. I think I’ve said it many, many times. That’s why I will prioritize this issue this winter. If that doesn’t happen, it will be time to seek my luck elsewhere. But this is my priority and I want to solve it in the winter,” added the Spanish pilot.
