The Cleveland Cavaliers emphatically punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference semi-finals with a 138–83 demolition of the Miami Heat, completing a 4–0 sweep in their first-round playoff series. The 55-point margin marked not only the fourth-largest blowout in NBA playoff history, but also Miami’s worst-ever postseason defeat.
Donovan Mitchell led the charge with 22 points, while De’Andre Hunter (19), Ty Jerome (18), and Evan Mobley (17) all added to a relentless offensive attack.

“We came out here with a goal in mind, to keep our foot on their throat,” Mitchell said postgame. “We wanted 48 minutes of full-pressure basketball.”
The Cavaliers dominated from start to finish and never let the Heat into the game. Miami’s previous worst playoff loss was by 37 points — a record shattered in a series where they never found their rhythm.
Cleveland now awaits the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers series, with the Pacers leading 3–1.
Out West, the Golden State Warriors held off a determined Houston Rockets squad with a 109–106 win to take a 3–1 series lead.
Jimmy Butler, returning from a pelvic injury, came up clutch with 14 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter. Brandin Podziemski added 26 points, including six three-pointers, to fuel the Warriors’ offense.
Golden State overcame a seven-point halftime deficit with an 18–1 run in the third quarter, but the game was knotted at 104 in the final minutes. Fred VanVleet, who had 25 points with eight threes, missed a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer.
Game 5 is set for Wednesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. local time in Houston.
