It was Darius Garland, who led the way for Cleveland with 24 points and 8 assists, followed up by Max Strus, who notched 20, which would prove pivotal.
The Cavaliers led 89-77 early in the 4th period and looked set for an easy win. However, a fierce rally brought the Raptors back in it. They even had a chance to force an overtime, but Gary Trent Jr. stepped out of bounds just before firing a potential tying shot.
“I’m glad we started to get it back together tonight,” Garland said. “We just had to bring the energy, and the crowd picked us up a little bit. I’ve also been telling Max to shoot the ball and he finally did.”
Raptors center Jakob Poeltl notched season high 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Pascal Siakam had 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
