Cleveland Cavaliers star Evan Mobley has agreed to a 5-year, 224 million dollar maximum rookie deal extension that could become worth as much as 269 million dollars, his agents confirmed the news with the media.
Evan (23) has quickly become 1 of the NBA’s great young defensive big men, finishing 3rd in voting for Defensive Player of the Year last year, as well as being named an All-Defensive 1st-teamer.
Mobley averaged almost 16 points, 10 boards and 1.4 blocks in the past campaign for the Cavaliers while also posting career-high shooting percentages: almost 58% overall, over 37% from the 3-point line and almost 72% from the free throw line.
Since coming in the league as the 3rd selection in the draft 3 years ago, Evan has helped Cleveland to finishing 7th in the defensive rating in the past campaign, 1st in the previous season and 5th in 2021-22. During that period, Evan is also 1 of just 4 basketballers along with Davis, Jackson Jr. and Gobert – to have at least 300 blocks and 150 steals.
