Chelsea have condemned all racist behavior and have instigated an internal disciplinary procedure after Argentina’s derogatory song about French footballers, the West London side announced.
The French Football Federation (FFF) shared yesterday that it would file a legal complaint over “racist and discriminatory remarks” made by the Blues footballer Enzo Fernández and his teammates from the national team about France’s squad after the past weekend’s Copa América win against Colombia.
“Our team finds all forms of discriminatory behavior completely unacceptable,” Chelsea published today.
After Argentina’s 1-0 victory against Colombia in the match for the title in Miami, Enzo posted a video on social media where Argentina footballers were singing offensive chants that singled out France footballers of African heritage.
The same chants – by some Argentina supporters – were heard before France and Argentina face at the World Cup final in Qatar, which Fernández and his teammates won.
Enzo apologized on social media about the video and claimed that he didn’t intend to discriminate anyone.
