It is a two-year contract with an option for one year extension. The Argentinian will start his work on July 1 as he will bring his own trusted team member Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, goalkeeper coach Toni Jimenez plus son and fitness coach Sebastiano Pochettino.
‘Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward. ‘ said the board in a written statement
‘He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate.’
Pochettino has a huge task ahead of him as he has to transform an underperforming squad that could manage only 12th in the league despite spending over £600m in 2 transfer windows.
