Chelsea continue the rise with 3-1 over Leicester

The Blues are looking in good shape after disastrous beginning of 2023

Chelsea got their third straight win in a week after beating Leicester 3-1 in Premier League. Last Saturday they won 1-0 against Leeds before their Champions League progress to the quarter-finals in Champions League.

The London side opened the scoring in the 11th minute thanks to Ben Chilwell’s perfect strike after Koulibaly cross.

A little over half an hour of play Ruben Loftus-Cheek passed to Joao Felix, who unleashed a terrific shot from range leaving Ward no time to react, but VAR checked the goal and disallowed it due to an offside.

In the 39th minutes Leicester got their goal after Patson Daka incredible shot into the right side of the net for 1-1.

Chelsea didn’t wait long and got their advantage back through Kai Havertz who got on the end of lofted pass from Enzo Fernandez and easily lobbed the goalkeeper.

 

 

With 15 minutes left in regular time Mykhailo Mudryk scored, but his goal was also disallowed by VAR for offside. The third goal was scored just three minutes later by Kovacic, who collected a pass from Mudryk and slotted it home from a volley.


In the 87th minute Leicester were left with 10 man on the pitch after a second yellow card to Wout Faes. Chelsea stays 10th in the ranking with 37 points, while Leicester continue their survival battle at 16th place.
