The Stamford Bridge crowd, though dissatisfied with the result, was given a real spectacle

Chelsea and Everton were embroiled in a breathtaking clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night, which saw neither edge out over the other.

The first half was rather tame and did not promise a whole lot. But all the drama was spared for the 2nd 45 minutes.

Joao Felix was the man to break the deadlock 7 minutes after the half-time interval. The Portuguese attacking midfielder drove past an excellent shot, which found the back of the net.

The resilient Toffees levelled the scoring in the 69th minute through Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Liverpool side barely had time to celebrate when Reece James was fouled inside the box and Chelsea were awarded a penalty kick. Kai Havertz slotted it home comfortably to give the Blues from London a 2-1 lead.

Sean Dyce’s men, however, refused to give up and late in the 88th they managed to draw the score level once again with a brilliant solo goal from substitution Ellis Simms.

With this result Chelsea waste a solid opportunity to close in on the top 6, which would guarantee them an European football next season. They remain 10th, a position they have occupied for quite some time now.
