Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shared that Enzo Fernández had “no bad intentions” behind his offensive chanting about French footballers and claimed team spirit has not been damaged with the Blues.
Enzo celebrated Argentina’s Copa América triumph by sharing a video of him and his teammates singing a racist and homophobic song about the heritage of some French footballers.
The Chelsea midfielder (23) is at the moment on holiday and has since apologised while the team from the Stamford Bridge have begun an internal disciplinary procedure and announced that they appreciate Fernandez’s apology.
The Blues are in the USA getting ready for the 1st game of their 5-match tour vs. Wrexham in California today and speaking ahead of the clash, the Chelsea boss shared about Enzo’s problem.
“I don’t believe there are any bad intentions behind the episode, so starting from that point, in my opinion, it’s not a big problem. Fernández already apologized, and I think we all must put this thing behind us.”
However, several of Enzo’s teammates in the Blues unfollowed him on social media after the incident.
