The Winnipeg Jets secured one of their star forwards ahead of the new campaign, inking Kyle Connor to an 8-year, 96 million dollar extension today.
It is the richest deal in Winnipeg organization history, earned by 1 of their best forwards. Selected by the Jets with the 17th overall pick 10 years ago, Kyle has notched 30 or more goals in 7 of his 8th full campaigns in the National Hockey League and surpassed the 40-goal mark in 2 of his last 4 seasons.
In the past campaign, Connor finished with a career-high 56 assists and 97 points in 82 matches and ranks in the top 20 among all skaters in the league in goals and assists in the past 5 years.
Kyle Connor, signed to an 8x$12M extension by WPG, is a star scoring winger with an elite shot, great speed, and slick hands. Very dangerous with the puck in transition but also one of the best in the league at getting lost in coverage and getting open at the back door. pic.twitter.com/0R426IkBbK

The Jets finished atop the league in the past campaign after securing 116 points, but were eliminated in the 2nd round of the postseason by the Stars. Keeping Kyle in the team was task number 1 in the offseason, as that means that they will be a contender in the West.
The Jets start the new season tomorrow at home vs. Dallas.
