The Oilers' captain had an outstanding season and was rightfully awarded

Conor McDavid won his third NHL MVP trophy during a special ceremony on Monday night.

The 26-year-old also collected the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHL most outstanding player. McDavid scored 64 goals, had 89 assists and 153 for the Edmonton Oilers in the last season. This is the highest number a player has scored since Mario Lemieux in 1995-96.

McDavid has lifted the Hart trophy previously in 2017 and 2021 as well as the Lindsay in 2017,2018 and 2021.

“Certainly it’s not lost on me what these trophies mean in the grand scheme of our game,” McDavid said. “To do it a number of times, it means a lot to me. Obviously, it’s not the motivating factor, but it’s special still.”

Widely regarded as the best hockey player in the world, McDavid is still searching for his first Stanley Cup as the Oilers were knocked out in the second round of the playoffs by the eventual champions Vegas.
