The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly expected to appoint Jim Bob Cooter as their new offensive coordinator.

The 38-year-old Cooter, who began his NFL coaching career in 2009 as an offensive assistant with the Colts, spent 2022 as the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ passing game coordinator.

He acted as the Detroit Lions‘ offensive coordinator from 2016-18 after holding the quarterbacks coach position from 2014-15.

Under Cooter, the Lions ranked 20th, seventh, and 25th in points per game.

Indianapolis averaged the second-fewest points per game (17) and the sixth-fewest yards per game (311.6) in 2022 while cycling through Matt Ryan, Sam Ehlinger, and Nick Foles at quarterback.

The Colts are widely expected to draft a quarterback near the top of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Cooter has worked with the likes of Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Hurts, and Trevor Lawrence.
