The Dallas Cowboys have gotten under the salary cap today by restructuring the deals of QB Dak Prescott, WR CeeDee Lamb, and LT Tyler Smith.
Dallas was nearly 55 million dollar over the cap before the moves, but the restructuring cleared almost 66 million dollars in space.
While the franchise from Texas is under the cap, they will need more room to be as aggressive as the owner, and GM Jerry Jones claimed the organization will when free agency starts. Dallas has WR George Pickens on the cap at over 23 million dollars, but a long-term contract would give them more money to spend.
The owner of the Cowboys revealed that his team will rework the contract of DTs Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, and Osa Odighizuwa, who are scheduled to count 63 million dollars vs. the cap, to add more cap room.
Dallas has not been very active in free agency in over 10 years, choosing to add players with cost-effective deals. Jerry used the phrase “bust the budget” when the offseason started and shared that he will do everything possible to help fix a defense that finished last in yards and 30th in points per match.
