Cristiano Ronaldo has been picked in the Portugal’s squad for their European qualifiers games against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg later this month.
The 38-year old’s future in the national squad was in serious doubt after fallout with ex-Portugal manager Fernando Santos in the World cup.
Santos infamously dropped Ronaldo from the first team for their knockout games against Switzerland and Marocco. Ronaldo came off the bench in both games.
New manager Roberto Martinez doesn’t seem to have issues with Ronaldo and still considers him as one of his best options.
The Spanish coach said that Ronaldo is very important for the team and he doesn’t look at the age, when he picks up his players.
Portugal play Liechtenstein in their home ground on 23 March, and pay a visit to Luxembourg three days later.
Ronaldo holds the record for most International goals (118 from 196 appearances). He has scored eight times for his new club Al-Nassr.
