The Oranges led after the 1st half as Dortmund’s forward Donyell Malen scored in the 34th minute after Mats Wieffer’s assist.
After 10 minutes in the 2nd half, Andrej Kramaric converted a penalty to tie the match 1-1. Croatia made a comeback when Atalanta’s Mario Pasalic netted in the 72nd minute after Luka Ivanusec pass to make it 2-1 for his nation.
The Netherlands, however, evened in the last possible minute when in the 6th minute in the extra time, Brugge’s Noa Lang scored after a rebound to force extra time.
However, Croatia kept their cool in the extra time and took the lead again when Bruno Petkovic scored in the 98th minute after Luka Modric’s assist. Real Madrid’s and Croatian legend Luka Modric netted a penalty in the 116th minute to secure the victory for his national team.
