Croatia routs Latvia 5-0 to close the gap from the top in Group D

The Croatians didn't show a hint of mercy in their home game

Croatia breezed past Latvia 5-0 in their third Group D Euro 2024 qualifying match.

The 2022 World Cup bronze medalists are have the least amount of games, because of their participation in the UEFA Nations League, but the win sent them on the second place with 7 points – three away from the leader Turkey, who has 5 games played already.


Armenia are third also with 7 points, while Latvia stays dead last without a single point.

The goals in Rijeka started to fall after less than 180 seconds of play. Bruno Petkovic took a wonderful free kick and slotted the ball into the top left corner. Ten minutes later Luka Ivanusec got first to a rebound and fired the ball into the bottom left corner.

A minute before the half time Petkovic scored his second of the night after receiving a great pass into the box.

In the 68 minute Borna Barisic found Kramaric who scored the fourth before Pasalic scoring the final fifth goal with an unstoppable shot.
