Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is interested in a return to the English Premier League, where he could play for Newcastle United. English media reported on Monday that the Spaniard, who is a free agent after his contract with the Red Devils was not renewed, could be brought in as a replacement for Nick Pope, who suffered a serious shoulder injury during the Manchester United game and could be out for five months.
The Telegraph now claims that De Gea would accept the offer, with the Spaniard training regularly and not needing much time to return to top form. However, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe plans to see how Martin Dubravka fares in goal during the busy period in December. If the Czech shows a good form, the Magpies will not sign a new goalkeeper and will rely on him. However, if Dubravka is hesitant, then at the very beginning of January Newcastle will make an offer for De Gea.

Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale, unhappy at losing his starting place at the Emirates following the signing of David Raya from Brentford, is also open to a move to Newcastle but manager Mikel Arteta will not let the England international leave in January, although he clearly prefers to rely on Raya.
Newcastle also have Loris Karius and Mark Gillespie, but Howe is unlikely to rely on them for a longer period.
