The team takes big salary cap hit
DeAndre Hopkins is no longer part of Arizona Cardinals, who are on the hook for quite an expensive breakup.
The Cardinals released the three-time All-Pro wide receiver in a salary cap move on Friday after they failed to find a trading partner in the offseason.
Arizona acquired Hopkins three years ago in a blockbuster trade with Houston and signed him to a $54.5 million contract extension through 2024.

His cap hit in dead money is $22.6 million and the good news for the Cardinals is he’ll be off the books for 2024.
