Denmark defeated Hungary 3-1 in their opening group stage game of the 2023 IIHF on Saturday.

Nikolaj Ehlers turned out to be the hero as his two goals led the Danes to deserved victory.

The Hungarians were evenly matched with the Danes, but their lack of efficiency in attack proved costly as they fell short.

They had their hopes restored when Janos Harri reduced the deficit at 2-1 early in the third period.

However, their hopes soon turned sorrow when Morten Poulsen struck a cold-blooded shot that carved the Hungarians defenses and restored the two-goals cushion. From then onwards the Danes had no difficulties in closing out the match.
