That became clear after world No.1 Alcaraz edged out Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, while Djokovic topped Alexander Zverev 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in the other semi-final.

The two famously faced each other at the Wimbledon in July, where the young Spaniard emerged victorious in a breath-taking match, that went all the way to 5 sets.
Now it is Djokovic’ chance to avenge his young rival.
“It’s the ultimate challenge at the moment for me,” Djokovic said.
“It’s a very good test prior to the US Open,” Djokovic, 36, said. “Obviously different conditions.
“Now it’s going to be the first encounter on a hard court.
“It’s still facing the top player of the world now who is in form. It’s the biggest challenge I could get, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Meanwhile, Alcaraz’ tremendous run of form continues as he secures his 8th final of 2023 as he becomes the youngest Cincinnati Open finalist since Pete Sampras in 1991.
