The former No. 1 let his opponent win just five games in the first 1/2-final, watched by Lionel Messi from the stands

Novak Djokovic is just one win away from claiming his 100th tour-level title and securing a record-breaking seventh Miami Open trophy after defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-3 on Friday. The semi-final, the oldest in ATP Masters 1000 series history, saw the 37-year-old Djokovic maintain his exceptional serving despite challenging breezy conditions. He made 87 percent of his first serves and won 79 percent of those points, demonstrating his consistency and precision.

With Lionel Messi and Venus Williams watching from the stands, Djokovic remained composed and accurate from the baseline, making only two unforced errors in the first set. His dominance continued throughout the 70-minute match, sealing his 11th consecutive win against Dimitrov on his second match point. This victory extended Djokovic’s head-to-head record against the Bulgarian to 13-1.

Dimitrov, who was a finalist in Miami the previous year, struggled to keep up after a demanding quarter-final against Francisco Cerundolo, where he required medical assistance. In contrast, Djokovic looked untroubled as he secured his place in a record-extending 60th ATP Masters 1000 final.

On Sunday, Djokovic will face either American Taylor Fritz or #NextGenATP talent Jakub Mensik in the championship match, scheduled to start after 3 p.m. local time.
