Novak Djokovic was on the verge to serve the biggest surprise at this year’s US Open as he lost the first two sets against his fellow countryman Laslo Djere, but managed to produce yet another great performance of his career coming back to win 3-2 (4-6; 4-6; 6-1; 6-1; 6-3) in New York.
The last time Djokovic won a US Open game, being 0-2 down was back in 2011 versus Rodger Federer.
Nole started shaky and lost his serve in the first game of the match. That managed to be enough for Djere, who on the other hand was steady on his service games and finished the set 6-4.
The story was almost the same in the second part, but this time Djokovic was broken in the seventh game to give Djere a 4-3 lead and later – the set.
Being two sets down Djokovic was visibly frustrated, but once again managed to channel this anger into a better play. The third set was completely different and he let Djere win only the second to last game of the set, leaving him at 6-1.
The fourth part started with three consecutive breaks, but Djokovic won his second service game to take a 3-1 lead before breaking Djere again and rounding it up to 6-1 again.

The fifth and final set was a little bit more balanced, but again Djere lost his service game at the very start and Djokovic wasn’t in the mood to waste more energy, preferring to take it home by 6-3.
