Novak Djokovic is only a step away from writing yet another chapter in the history books as he aims for his 24th Grand Slam title, which would equal the record of Margaret Court.
Daniil Medvedev stands in his way, the man, who beat him in the 2021 US Open final and Djokovic will be keen to get his own back against the Russian.
“I understand every time in a Grand Slam final, it’s another shot for history,” Djokovic said.
“But I don’t have much time, nor do I allow myself to reflect on these things or think about the history too much.
“When I did that in the past, like the 2021 final here, I was maybe overwhelmed with the occasion and the opportunity, and I underperformed.”
Third seed Medvedev, who beat Carlos Alcaraz in the 1/2 final, is no stranger to breaking the Serb’s aspiration as he denied him 2 years ago from the honor of becoming the first player to win all Slam titles in a calendar year.
Djokovic still remains firm favorite, but Medvedev is not the type of player to be underestimated, so it’s all to play for.
