Shohei Ohtani showed his class as a starting pitcher as the playoffs are getting closer, but Los Angeles head coach Dave Roberts shared that the franchise has considered whether the Japanese superstar might be more valuable helping a weary bullpen, as that can happen more likely in a shorter matchup like 3-match wild card round.
Without a doubt, there is a chance that Shohei will be 1 of the Dodgers’ starters in the postseason, but his manager revealed that there is still a chance for the Japanese to help from the bullpen and that this is a topic in the team.
“We will discuss this in the upcoming days,” the Dodgers manager claimed.
Ohtani was removed from his head coach after 5 no-hit innings despite only 68 pitches, as Roberts shared with the media that he doesn’t want to take any risks in the return of the superstar after injury.
The Japanese also commented that and admitted that he understood the decision of his manager, but claimed that he wants to be on the pitch as long as possible and play despite the risk of an injury.
