Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will definitely miss his team’s preseason game on Friday with a calf injury and is also questionable for the season opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 25, Reuters reports.
The Slovenian injured himself in training in Madrid on October 9 and underwent an MRI after the team’s return to Dallas.
Mavericks coach Jason Kidd reassured reporters on Monday that his condition was not serious, but added that he “will be re-evaluated later in the week.” The day before the injury, Doncic played just five minutes, scoring 9 points in a pre-season game against Real Madrid.
Kidd also said guard Kyrie Irving is recovering well from his groin injury. “He’s fine, we’ll see how he is tomorrow and he’ll move on,” the coach said.
Doncic is a four-time NBA All-Star, averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists in 66 games last season.
