The couple were tied in their flat in the center of Paris and were held hostage for a while, according to the police.
Fortunately, they managed to escape and hide in the nearby hotel.
“An investigation has been opened on charges of armed robbery in an organised gang and aggravated violence following the events that took place overnight at Mr Donnarumma’s place,” a spokesperson for Paris prosecutor’s office said.
Unofficial reports say that the thieves escaped with jewellery and goods worth around €500,000.
The prosecutor’s office said France’s special BRB police unit targeting armed robbery and burglaries had begun an investigation.
