Ducati factory team manager Davide Tardozzi has expressed optimism that reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez could return for the final round of the 2025 season in Valencia, but emphasized that the team will not take any risks with his recovery.
Marquez is currently sidelined with a right shoulder injury sustained during his crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, which required surgery earlier this week. As a result, he will miss the upcoming races in Australia and Malaysia, and his participation in Portugal also appears doubtful.
“The injury is quite serious,” Tardozzi told TNT Sport. “It prevents him from taking part in the next two races (Malaysia and Portugal), we’ll see what happens for the latter. We hope he can return to Valencia, but we’ll have to wait for the next tests in two weeks and the doctors’ opinion.”

The Italian team boss reiterated that Ducati’s main concern is Marquez’s long-term health rather than rushing him back onto the track. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he can take part in the last race of the season and the test in Valencia,” Tardozzi added. “But again, we don’t want to rush things. In the past, he suffered a lot from hasty returns, so we want to give him the time he needs to recover optimally.”
