Oilers signed the forward to a 1-year contract.

The Edmonton Oilers have inked forward Sam Gagner to a 1-campaign, 2-way deal that pays him almost $800,000 at the league’s level.

The veteran forward (34) joined the Canadian NHL franchise on a professional tryout during training camp in the offseason. Gagner notched 8 goals and gave 6 assists in 48 matches with the Winnipeg Jets in the past campaign before being sidelined with an injury and undergoing surgery in March.

The 2007 6th overall selection has 1 goal and 3 assists in 3 matches in the AHL this campaign.

This will be the forward 3rd period in Edmonton. He has played 1,015 matches in the NHL, notched 192 goals, and earned 519 points during that period, as he has also played for Arizona, Philadelphia, Columbus, Vancouver, Detroit, and Winnipeg.
